Set Authentication Method to Microsoft

In order to allow your users to use Microsoft to create their PowerSchool IDs and sign in to Unified Classroom using their Microsoft account, the Authentication Method needs to be set to Microsoft. 

View/Edit Microsoft User Details

  1. Navigate to the District Details page.
  2. Click the Users tab.
  3. Hover over a user and click the View icon.
    Alternately, click the name of a user and then click View Details
  4. On the User Details page, edit the information as needed and click Save.

Import Microsoft Email Addresses

Using the Import function, you can quickly and easily import data from comma-separated value (csv) file containing SIS usernames, user role, and Microsoft email addresses into Unified Classroom. When creating your import file, it is important to note the csv file must contain headers of SIS_Username, User_Type, and Microsoft_Username. Valid User_Type include STAFF, TEACHER, STUDENT, PARENT. 

Note: The Authentication Method is automatically set to Microsoft for all imported Microsoft email addresses where a matching SIS username is found.

  1. Navigate to the District Details page.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Select the Microsoft Email Addresses option and click Next.
  4. Click Choose File to select the csv file you want to import and click Upload. The  Status message may display the following:
      • Not Started
      • Validating indicates each username is being looked up to see if an account exists and if the account needs to be updated with information provided within the import file.
      • Validated
      • Processing indicates that the user accounts that need to be updated in our identity platform with the new Microsoft usernames are being actively updated.
      • Processed
      • Cancelled
      • Error Storing Results
  5. Click the Results icon to download the most recent file results for any file with the status of Processed or Validated.
  6. Click Process to process any file with the status of Validated.

View Import Status of Microsoft Email Addresses 

  1. Navigate to the District Details page.
  2. Click Import Status. The Status message may display.
  3. Click the Results icon to download the most recent file results for any file with the status of Processed or Validated.
  4. Click Process to process any file with the status of Processed.

Once you have set up Microsoft accounts, users can then sign in to Unified Classroom using their Microsoft account.
